It’s hard for me to believe that my last post here was May 2019. So much has happened. Apart from the obvious (i.e., pandemic), the language services market finds itself in the midst of major transition, as it adapts to the widespread use and acceptance of artificial intelligence, large language models, and ever-improving machine translation. In future posts, I’ll discuss why there’s no going back now; nor should we want to.
On a personal note, serving on ATA’s Board of Directors from 2017 to 2023 was a wonderful experience, though it consumed most of the after-work professional oxygen at my disposal, leaving little room for much else, including this blog. This was especially true once the pandemic and lockdown turned everybody’s lives upside down, along with the Association, leaving us all to scramble as we figured things out. More to come about that as well.
Stay tuned…
